Giving people a hand UP, not just a handout
SELECTED BY THE MAYOR OF MEDWAY
as one of his two chosen charities this year!
For his mayoral year, Councillor Trevor Clarke has chosen his charities.
Caring Hands in the Community - a day centre for those who are homeless or insecurely housed, providing support, advice and free meals, as well as access to showers and clean clothing.

"There are so many fantastic charities in Medway, and I am really proud to be supporting two of them in Caring Hands and Slide Away this year. Both of these charities make a real difference in people’s lives, providing support, advice and a friendly face at what could be somebody’s lowest point,”
Cllr. Clarke.

If someone were to offer you a crumpled £20, chances are you would take it. The note may be battered, torn or dirty but its value remains the same.

The people we encounter have had a tough time in life; they are homeless and often vulnerable. But, like the £20 note, we believe that everyone has value, and that a person's past or current circumstances do not diminish their worth or their potential. It is our aim to restore the self-confidence of our guests, helping them overcome addictions and other barriers. READ MORE
